The IKO and Owens Corning architectural shingles we install on residential roofs feature a thermally-activated sealant strip that resists winds of 180 km/h and more, and they keep their looks even after two decades of UV exposure.

The real-world lifespan of a shingle depends on installation just as much as the product. A shingle that's nailed wrong, poorly aligned or installed in too-cold weather will never seal properly, and the first windstorms will start tearing off the lowest courses.
Our crew nails every shingle in the manufacturer's specified nailing zone (never above the seal strip), uses six nails per shingle in wind-exposed areas, and refuses to work in weather that's too cold or too wet. These small details, invisible once the job's done, are the difference between a roof that ages gracefully and one that needs repairs by year five.
We also install Ice & Water Shield at every eave (up to 24 inches past the interior wall) and in every valley — critical protection against leaks caused by ice dams.

What's included

What's the difference between 3-tab and architectural shingles?+
Architectural shingles are laminated (two layers), thicker, more wind-resistant and offer a dimensional look. They last 10–15 years longer than 3-tab shingles.
Can new shingles be installed over old ones?+
Technically yes, but we don't recommend it. Tear-off lets us inspect the deck, replace the underlayment and add 5–10 years to the roof's life.
